About My Clinical Approach

Modalities

I use a variety of approaches with clients, often getting a sense through a few sessions which modality would fit best with the person in front of me. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My work is insight oriented and solution focused for a combination of internal growth and action. I emphasize the importance of work and change when necessary, and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to facilitate that change. In addition to these more traditional theoretical orientations, I also use experiential and creative techniques. I draw from psychodrama, art, spirituality and meditation to aid in becoming more in tune with your feelings and body. Ultimately, while I am educated in psychology and theory, you are the expert on your own experience and I take that into account when using different tools in session.

Therapeutic Approach

I would describe my approach as very authentic and genuine, encouraging open communication in the therapeutic relationship. I am warm and caring, my approach reflects this using empathy and active listening to help you feel heard and understood. The foundation of my work is self-compassion, so my approach consistently comes back to improving your relationship with yourself.
